AAHP 2025 Outlook
By Mark Land, M.S., RAC-US, AAHP President
To support the growth of member companies’ businesses and address issues in our new environment, the AAHP Board developed the following agenda built on lessons learned in previous years and focused on the issues of our industry and our members.
The Association
After many years of discussion, AAHP decided to change its name to The American Association for Homeopathic Products. Changing the name from pharmacists to products reflects the broader scope of the association’s work more accurately. The AAHP acronym was preserved to make the most of the brand recognition developed since our inception in 1923. The name American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists will continue to be available for use in projects specifically associated with pharmacists and pharmacy organizations. Look for the new logo and branding throughout TheAAHP.org.
In addition to the name change, a key member of AAHP staff will retire this year after 46 years with the association: AAHP Secretary and board member Eric Foxman! In anticipation of this, the AAHP Board is currently evaluating policies, procedures, and the resources necessary to navigate this transition. More to come on this but, to start off with, AAHP will recruit an association administrative assistant in 2025. If you are interested or know someone interested in working directly with the association, please contact the AAHP office by emailing info@aahp.info or phoning 513-402-8847 (Pacific Time).
The Environment
The pending change in presidential administrations is being heralded in with the promise of sweeping changes. These changes are motivated by dissatisfaction with the outcomes in healthcare policy and economics. Changes proposed by cabinet member nominees suggest broad reorganization of healthcare agencies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Changes in priorities at regulatory agencies present both risks and opportunities, for which AAHP will monitor and take advantage.
The dynamics of the regulatory environment include actions of regulatory authorities, as well as industry and consumer response to changes in policy and enforcement actions. In 2025 AAHP has already begun engaging with Congressional authorities and looks forward to engaging with FDA on issues facing our industry.
