MILWAUKIE, Ore., Sept. 23, 2021 —The American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists (AAHP) awarded Jenn Martin, Vice President of Merchandising for Health, Beauty, Baby Center, and Card & Party at Meijer, Inc., the Integrative Medicine Award. This honor recognizes a retailer executive or retail organization that promotes and sells products which encompass a broad range of therapeutic approaches to achieve optimal health and wellness for consumers seeking to participate actively in their healthcare.

Martin accepted the award during the AAHP Industry Reception, Sept. 23 at the historic Union League of Philadelphia. Designed to connect and support retailers who champion the industry’s products with manufacturers, this reception presented the third annual award. In 2019, Karen Shadders, Vice President of Health, Wellness, Home & Entertaining at Wegmans Food Markets received the inaugural award, followed by Derrick Shaffer, Category Manager at Rite Aid Corporation in 2020.

“Today we recognize Jenn Martin’s dedication to provide consumers with a wider choice of healthy products and services,” said Mark Land, AAHP President. Through her work at Meijer, consumers have better access to healthier offerings to care for the health of themselves and their families.

In her nine years at Meijer, Jenn has been a part of and led several exciting department initiatives, beginning with a Pet reinvention, and more recently the Health and Wellness department update.

She has been recognized from Meijer as well as peers, earning awards like Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery’s Rising Star and Mass Market Retailers’ Top 50 Most Influential Women in Mass Retailing. She enjoys developing and mentoring, as well as engaging in team member resource groups, such as her role on the board on WAM (Women at Meijer).

Prior to joining Meijer in 2012, Jenn spent 5 years with L Brands, working in various planning functions for Victoria’s Secret and Bath and Body Works in Columbus, OH and New York, New York. She began her career by spending two years at Target Corporation in Minneapolis, MN. Jenn is a graduate of Michigan State University. Jenn lives in the Grand Rapids, MI area with her husband and their daughter.

Jenn accepted the award virtually at AAHP’s hybrid event. It was the first in-person event for the association and the homeopathic industry since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and care was taken for public safety at a fully vaccinated location. A virtual component was included for those who were not in town for Natural Products Expo East.

“In bringing together homeopathic manufacturers, retailers, experts in the field, and professionals from adjacent associations, AAHP Industry Reception highlighted opportunities and challenges that we can all work through together,” said Mark Land, AAHP president. “I am excited we were able to convene the stakeholders learn from one another.”

In addition to the award ceremony, the reception featured a perspective on the evolving retail landscape for the health and wellness sector by Bryan Gildenberg, SVP, Commerce at the Omnicom Commerce Group (OCG), as well as a report on the state of the homeopathic retail industry from The Emerson Group.
