MILWAUKIE, Ore. —The American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists (AAHP) has awarded Wegmans Food Markets with the Integrative Medicine Award. This honor recognizes a retailer that promotes and sells products that encompass a broad range of therapeutic approaches to achieve optimal health and wellness for consumers seeking to participate actively in their healthcare.

The award was presented during the opening reception of AAHP’s Summit on Challenges and Solutions in Quality & Safety of Homeopathic Drug Products, June 27–28 in Baltimore, Maryland. The Summit was designed, not only to convene homeopathic professionals to learn about best practices in regulatory affairs and manufacturing, but also to connect and support retailers who champion the industry’s products.

“On behalf of Wegmans, I am happy to accept AAHP’s Integrative Medicine Award,” said Karen Shadders, Vice President of Health, Wellness, Home & Entertaining at Wegmans, who attended the reception. “We strive to offer our consumers as much choice as possible when it comes to caring for the health of their families and themselves.”

In addition to the award ceremony, the reception featured a report on the state of the homeopathic retail industry from Scott Emerson, Founder and CEO of the Emerson Group as well as an update on public policy from Scott M. Melville, President and CEO of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association.

“In bringing together homeopathic manufacturers, retailers, experts in the field, and professionals from adjacent associations, AAHP’s Quality & Safety Summit highlighted opportunities and challenges that we can all work through together,” said Mark Land, AAHP president. “I am excited we were able to convene the stakeholders learn from one another.”
